~~DISCO FRIES~~

This is not an original one, but a good one. "Disco Fries", or their relative "Poutine", are not very popular in this part of the country, so I decided to share this recipe because I love them.

Disco fries are french fries covered with melted mozzarella cheese and topped with brown gravy. The idea for them (which became popular in the eastern United States) came from the French Canadian delicacy "Poutine". Poutine is one of the most popular dishes in the French populated areas of Canada, such as Montreal. They are frites (double-fried french fries) that are covered in cheese curds and brown gravy (usually with everything homemade). This recipe is a "make-at-home" version that is very easy to make and even more yummy!

Poutine
Ingredients

French Fries (frozen or homemade)
Brown Gravy (storebought or homemade)
1/2 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese
Salt and pepper to season

To Make:

Prepare french fries, season with salt and pepper. Heat brown gravy. Place fries on oven-safe plate, top with shredded cheese and broil until melted. Remove from oven, top with brown gravy, and enjoy!

Top 10 Unusual But DELICIOUS Things to Fry

Fried food is my achilles heal. It can be deep fried, skillet fried, or even oven fried. There's just something about coating foods in a crispy batter that makes them irresistible. The picture above of the scrumptious-looking fried Oreos are just one example.  People are frying different things that you generally wouldnt think tastes good. I've also seen frying of various sweets, from cookies to Snickers candy bars, although the only one I have tried yet is deep-fried twinkies...but they were AMAZING! So, in tribute of fair season, I decided to make a list of The Top 10 Unusual But DELICIOUS Things to Fry and these artery-clogging recipes are sure to please!

10. Fried Asparagus
In medium bowl, beat egg and tablespoon milk. Dip asparagus spears into egg mixture, then into bread crumbs. Heat enough oil to 365 degrees in deep fryer or large skillet. Fry coated asparagus, a few at a time, until lightly browned, about 2 minutes. Drain on paper towels. Season with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with grated cheese.
9. Fried Cheeseburgers
Assemble burger, dip in batter, fry until golden brown.

8. Fried Butter
Use 100% pure butter and whip it until it is light and fluffy. Freeze the butter overnight. Next, surround 1-inch chunks of butter with dough. Drop into the deep fryer and fry until golden brown. This can be done with regular butter or other flavors can be added to the butter such as garlic, grape, or cherry.

7. Fried Snickers bars
Put each candy bar onto a skewer or popsicle stick. Refrigerate overnight. Hold the snickers by the skewer and dip into batter mixture of 1 cup flour and two teaspoons baking soda, turning to coat. Carefully place into 330 degree oil, skewer and all, and fry until golden brown and crisp, about 1-2 minutes.

6. Fried Oreos
Chill cookies in the refrigerator. Prepare pancake batter, making sure that it is relatively thick. Heat 2-3 inches of oil to 335 degrees. Dip Oreos in batter, and cook in oil for about 1 1/2 minutes, turning as necessary for each side to brown. Make sure you allow to cool. Then eat!

5. Fried Pickles
Beat 1 egg, 3/4 cup milk and a pinch of cayenne. Place 1/4 cup cornstarch in a shallow dish. In another dish, mix 1/2 cup each cornstarch and cornmeal with 2 tablespoons chopped dill, 2 teaspoons paprika, and salt and pepper. Dip about 3 dozen cold pickle slices in the plain cornstarch, then the egg wash, then the cornmeal mixture. Fry in 2 inches of 375 degrees canola oil until golden, about 3 minutes. Drain on paper towels and serve with ranch dressing.

4. Fried cheese curds
In a medium bowl, sift together 1 cup flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder, and a dash of salt. Stir in 2 beaten eggs and 1/2 cup milk. Coat 1 pound cheese curds in the batter. Fry in skillet over medium-high heat for approx. 1 minute each until golden brown.

3. Fried Ice Cream
Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. Scoop the ice cream into 2-inch balls and freeze on prepared baking sheet for at least 2 hours. Beat 4 egg whites in medium bowl. Put crushed Golden Graham cereal into a seperate medium bowl. Dip a frozen ice cream ball into egg whites and then roll in the crushed cereal and return to baking sheet. Put the baking sheet back into the freezer and freeze overnight. Heat 4 inches of oil to 375 degrees, fry the ice cream balls until golden, about 1 minute.

Original Recipe # 1

BBQ CHICKEN PIZZA....    BBQ Chicken Pizza With BACON !!!!

So, I am pretty excited about this first post! This is an original semi-homemade recipe (No better way to start) that blends so many of my favorite ingredients; chicken, bacon, bbq sauce, red onions, and..... Pizza of course! In addition, as I mentioned it has bacon, and bacon makes everything better.

At this site, I'll share with you a little bit about each dish, the recipe, as well as photos, videos, or links about the food. As you will soon see, I love simple, yummy food. If you are into fancy gourmet, this is not the place for you. Lastly, I will bring you along with me to experience other great places and food!

I first made this dish for my family about a year ago. It's actually an interesting story how I stumbled upon the idea for this version of a bbq chicken pizza. I looooove, love, love pizza AND bbq. But until now, I never liked the idea of eating bbq chicken on a pizza. One day, however, I was watching Food Network and saw tv chef Sandra Lee cook an amazing-looking one with refrigerated pizza dough. Well I guess it looked so good to me that I made one myself, just using the ingredients I thought would be good, as I did not have her recipe nor her ingredients on hand. Turns out, it was one of the best pizzas I ever had (and I've eaten a WHOLE LOTTA pizza!). The combination of cheeses went perfectly with the tang of the bbq sauce. The red onion was sweet and a great addition, while the bacon topped it off. It's so yummy I still havn't ordered one from a pizzeria. Whenever I crave bbq chicken and pizza, oh! and bacon... I just zip home and throw this delicious pizza in the oven.
