Fried food is my achilles heal. It can be deep fried, skillet fried, or even oven fried. There's just something about coating foods in a crispy batter that makes them irresistible. The picture above of the scrumptious-looking fried Oreos are just one example. People are frying different things that you generally wouldnt think tastes good. I've also seen frying of various sweets, from cookies to Snickers candy bars, although the only one I have tried yet is deep-fried twinkies...but they were AMAZING! So, in tribute of fair season, I decided to make a list of The Top 10 Unusual But DELICIOUS Things to Fry and these artery-clogging recipes are sure to please!
10. Fried Asparagus
In medium bowl, beat egg and tablespoon milk. Dip asparagus spears into egg mixture, then into bread crumbs. Heat enough oil to 365 degrees in deep fryer or large skillet. Fry coated asparagus, a few at a time, until lightly browned, about 2 minutes. Drain on paper towels. Season with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with grated cheese.
9. Fried CheeseburgersAssemble burger, dip in batter, fry until golden brown.
8. Fried ButterUse 100% pure butter and whip it until it is light and fluffy. Freeze the butter overnight. Next, surround 1-inch chunks of butter with dough. Drop into the deep fryer and fry until golden brown. This can be done with regular butter or other flavors can be added to the butter such as garlic, grape, or cherry.
7. Fried Snickers bars
Put each candy bar onto a skewer or popsicle stick. Refrigerate overnight. Hold the snickers by the skewer and dip into batter mixture of 1 cup flour and two teaspoons baking soda, turning to coat. Carefully place into 330 degree oil, skewer and all, and fry until golden brown and crisp, about 1-2 minutes.
6. Fried OreosChill cookies in the refrigerator. Prepare pancake batter, making sure that it is relatively thick. Heat 2-3 inches of oil to 335 degrees. Dip Oreos in batter, and cook in oil for about 1 1/2 minutes, turning as necessary for each side to brown. Make sure you allow to cool. Then eat!
5. Fried Pickles
Beat 1 egg, 3/4 cup milk and a pinch of cayenne. Place 1/4 cup cornstarch in a shallow dish. In another dish, mix 1/2 cup each cornstarch and cornmeal with 2 tablespoons chopped dill, 2 teaspoons paprika, and salt and pepper. Dip about 3 dozen cold pickle slices in the plain cornstarch, then the egg wash, then the cornmeal mixture. Fry in 2 inches of 375 degrees canola oil until golden, about 3 minutes. Drain on paper towels and serve with ranch dressing.
4. Fried cheese curds
In a medium bowl, sift together 1 cup flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder, and a dash of salt. Stir in 2 beaten eggs and 1/2 cup milk. Coat 1 pound cheese curds in the batter. Fry in skillet over medium-high heat for approx. 1 minute each until golden brown.
3. Fried Ice Cream
Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. Scoop the ice cream into 2-inch balls and freeze on prepared baking sheet for at least 2 hours. Beat 4 egg whites in medium bowl. Put crushed Golden Graham cereal into a seperate medium bowl. Dip a frozen ice cream ball into egg whites and then roll in the crushed cereal and return to baking sheet. Put the baking sheet back into the freezer and freeze overnight. Heat 4 inches of oil to 375 degrees, fry the ice cream balls until golden, about 1 minute.

1. Fried TwinkiesFreeze the Twinkies overnight. Heat vegetable oil to 375 degrees. Combine 1 cup milk, 2 tablespoons cider vinegar, and 1 teaspoon vegetable oil in bowl and stir well. Combine flour, teaspoon baking powder, and salt in another bowl. Stir the dry mixture into the wet mixture and stir until smooth. Dust each Twinkie lightly with flour then dip into batter. Fry in oil for approx. 45 seconds until golden brown. Drain on paper towels, sprinkle with powdered sugar, and enjoy!
